Current and accurate traffic data is crucial to current and long range decision making. For that reason we use the latest in computer technology hardware and software. The computer equipment that we use assures our clients need for current, accurate, and easy to read traffic data summaries. The following is a list of the most common and typical traffic data collections:

   Turning Movement Counts: Collected manually for a specific period of time, are actually samples of traffic movements at two intersecting roadways. This data is necessary for traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrants evaluation, modification of traffic signals, etc.

Machine Counts: Also called automatic counts are counts that are usually needed over an extended period of time (i.e. days or weeks).  Our machine counters are capable of gathering reports in any of the following types or combinations:

     Date/Time/Volume/Average/Speed/Temperature Report;
     Date/Time/Volume/Average/Headway Report
     Time/Class Report
     Time/Speed Report
     Class/Volume Report
     Average Speed by Class Report
     Summary Report

   This data has many uses!  Frequently this data is the basis on which short and long-range planning decisions are made by local, regional and state agencies.  Traffic data is useful in documenting current mobility conditions and to anticipate future mobility needs. Traffic counts are also used to determine whether traffic control devices, such as signals, stop signs and turn arrows, should be installed in areas where traffic may intersect.  Traffic volumes are recorded and added to other factors that determine whether or not an area warrants installation of a traffic control device.

   Traffic counts is used to predict when a roadway will need resurfacing.  Classification counts are used to determine this.  These counts record the number of axles per vehicle-using a somewhat complicated factoring system-enabling engineers to pinpoint how many commercial/cargo trucks are traveling the roadway.  Large trucks create the most wear and tear to pavement.  Engineers can program funds for resurfacing long in advance by estimating how many trucks will pass over a roadway during a designated period of time.

If school administration and/or transportation departments should need information about traffic in and around school zones, or a potentially dangerous school bus stop, we can collect actual and average speed, volume or classification of vehicles traveling in the area of concern.  We can also capture the same type data for school at school  functions (sports events, etc).

   If a neighborhood has a problem with speeding or increased volumes of traffic, this information is beneficial when there is need for verification or for increased law enforcement.

   We can also collect accurate and current data for business owners that would like to know the volume of traffic traveling the roadways past their business, the volume of vehicles traveling on their property, or traffic data for a potential new business location.

   Utilizing industry technology (hardware and software) you are assured of complete and current traffic data in a timely fashion.  All traffic counts include a summary report and can include charts and graphs for easy visualization.

Following are types of data studies to be added:
License Plate Survey/Origin and Destination Studies, Parking Lot Occupancy and Turnover Studies
